Default OEM Heated Seat Retrofit

Folks, my google-fu is failing me, but I'm sure I'm missing a topic on this already so please give me a link if you can:

Can the OEM heated seats, controller(?), and buttons be retrofitted into a vehicle without them? I'm not looking for A/C, which I know is a toughy, but I suspect heat may be an issue as well. I've got an XLT with Sync, Max Tow, etc.

Thanks

I don't know if you can do the Oem, but aftermarket is a lot cheaper... You can get everything needed online or ebay for only $80!

I retrofitted my front seats in my 2010 FX4 with heated inserts. Here is the thread. Lot of info here from a lot of people.

Hope it helps you.....

Thanks guys, I'm really holding out for OEM if I can. It looks like I'll have to get access to the ford service manuals and dig in to find out what it needs.

I believe that something to do with the electrical behind the panel itself prevents that from being done. I'm sure it can be done, just depends on how much work you're willing to do on it.

I'm betting you're right. I think their is either a dedicated control module, or something that interfaces with an existing control module. Le-sigh....

It looks like OEM heated seats are exclusive to automatic climate control. Bummers. EMTC vs. DATC.

If you ever figure this out I would love to know. I just bought some platinum heated and cooled seats as well as the heated rear seats. The leather on them isn't the color I wanted so I bought OEM raptor leather.

If I can figure out how to retro fit the heated seats I will let you know. I also have the OEM heating panel from an fx4 with the heated and cooled seat buttons.

I have a friend who is an electrical engineer and am hoping he can figure out a way.

The wiring is not in my 2011 XLT to support the OEM controller (which installs under the pass seat). The plug matches what is in the manual but there are many wires missing. I installed aftermarket with 5 heat settings. Looks great too. Everything fits under the seats. I used the 40A inverter circuit near the e-brake for power.

In the pic you can see the control in the lower right of the blue panel.
