Throttle Body not available till May 3rd? Ford Service?
Bought my Certified pre-owned 2014 King Ranch ecoboost 2 weeks ago and had to Immediately put it in the shop with a coolant leak and a Sticking throttle body. According to my Local dealer, That part will not be available until May 3rd. They have found a dealer "up north" that has a throttle body, but it is up to that dealer to decide to sell it to my dealer. WTF?? So I may be without my newly purchased vehicle until May? I was originally excited about the purchase of my first F150 but am quickly losing that excitement.
The dealer said that "At least I'm not having to put miles on my Truck".. Well I sure as heck didn't buy it to have to keep it in the shop for a month and a half. May 3rd- Does that sound like standard practice to you guys? |

The Truck is under warranty, I wonder if the dealer could order from them?
I just did a quick search- Tasca has the whole throttle body for 79 bucks. |
Did they give you a loaner truck in the meantime?

My best advice to you is keep after the dealer and get constant updates, ask them if they have an open inquiry to what we call PACO( Parts Assistance Center Online), hell I would go as far as asking for the ticket number of the inquiry. any other questions I will do my best to answer for you. i certainly understand how frustrating it is about this |

as a ford dealer parts guy let me chime in. Yes that TB is on international intergalactic backorder, yes it is up to that dealer up north if they are willing to give the part up. what you can do is ask your dealer if they have the part on emergency order (which they should anyway) and also ask them how many dealers they have called. Ford protocol requires us to call any/all dealers on our part locater when a part is backordered to see if they are willing to sell it.

Do dealerships have the option to order parts from places like Tasca? The throttle body that Tasca has listed said that it's a Ford Genuine part.. Or can dealers only order from Ford?

we have whats called OE connection D2D part locator(a part locating tool). it shows all the ford part depots and actual ford dealers that have that part in stock, along with dealer phone numbers. like I said already if a part is backordered and a vehicle is down, we have to call the dealers on that list to see if they will sell the part to us. I have spent the better part of an afternoon already just calling around
