Thoughts: Michelin Defender LTX M/S LT
#11
Trading in my 2015 lariat for a 2018. Engine blew up at 49,000KM, replaced rad at 30k something....scared of what else might happen. The new one is a lariat as well and in Canada (Not sure about the US) only the king ranch and above has the sync (ford) connect. I am curious if the new 2018 ford connect can be enabled such that the attached modem (I believe there is one attached otherwise how can there be a hotspot that drives off my phone) looks outwards and can handle its own data plan. Thoughts?

Running Michelin Defender LTX 275/55R20. Stock wheels. Replaced the original Pirelli Scorpion at 35k. These have about 1,000 miles on them and love them.
Very quiet and smooth.
Now my question is this. I run them at the "recommended" 35psi that ford says to have them at. Probably why it is such a smooth ride. What do you all run your tires at? Would love to get some better fuel mileage but don't want choppy ride.

I have the same tires. Since these are LT's (light truck) I run 50 psi at home and 60 psi towing nation wide. Wear is even across tread. P-metic tires should run at door sticker or add couple psi.

On my 16 I had KO2's and they were crap on cold and wet roads. switched to defenders and were probably the best tires I ever had! grip like glue in rain, best I've had on ice and nice ride and very quiet on dry roads. Didn't look as cool as the KO2, but sure felt safer in chicago winter

Michelin LTX M&S tires have been my tire of choice for a long time, based on performance and longevity. I got 108,000 out of a set on a Nissan Frontier 4x4 that I owned. I recently put Michelin Defender LTX M&S tires on my F150. I immediately lost 1.5 to 2 mpg. No change in tire size by the way. I also put aftermarket Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors and new pads on both axles at the same time. So, I'm not sure what effect the brake change-out had on my mpg. I also did the tires and brakes heading into fall and I normally lose fuel efficiency when it gets colder here in Pennsylvania. So, not sure what to think. I'll update once I get through the winter and have more miles on the tires.

Well, surely you are now on winter gas, which tends to drop mpg. Did you change the psi of your tires? Brakes shouldn't matter unless they are installed wrong or you are riding them. You could check the front pads, make sure they are on the correct sides.

Uh oh, I have Goodyears, Pirellis, and Bridgestones on my 3 cars. My truck has Goodyear Duratracs, my commuter has Pirelli Cinturato P7, and my wife's car has Bridgestone Dueler HL400. I have been very happy with all 3 tire brands although I will say I did buy a set of Bridgestone Ecopias for my commuter, they were garbage and I immediately took them back and made them change them to the Pirellis.
