When I got there yesterday to test drive it, I checked to make sure it hadn't been ran (the block was cold). My buddy had told me to listen to the engine after starting it to see if I could hear any noise and it sounded pretty good to me, so maybe it's OK. I don't really know the history either so it could have been replaced. I have the history of oil changes and plugs, but I didn't see anything else listed on his maintenance sheet. That's not to say it wasn't done at the dealer though.

Oh wow, I'd say. Sounds like a diesel! I think I'm safe for the time being.

to be clear, the timing chain rattle is that weird noise right after start up at 00:14 - 00:16 in the video, right? the rest of that noise is normal - injectors, etc..?

That's really sharp! That was back when FX4 meant something. Great model to own!

Yep, that's a real FX4 and not just the bling and skidplates. Nice truck ! I use Fuelly to track mileage and log all the service, etc. I really like it. It's free or you can buy the slightly better version for a really low one-time price. I can't remember how much it was. Under $10.
