Default Small Lift and Level

I'm new to the forum so if I'm posting in the wrong spot, kindly direct me with a link please. I want to install a 2" lift to my 2013 Lariat and have some questions.

Would the proper kit be a 3" front and a 2"rear to achive a 2" lift and level?

Will I need anything beside what's in the kit, i.e. parking brake relocator, shock extenders.

I can purchase a lift kit on Ebay for abourt $100 or less. Should I pay more and buy from someone else? Can you refer?

Thanks in advance for the help and/or redirect

Measure the distance from the top of the wheel well to the ground in the front and back. The difference is what you need to raise the front to level the truck.

3” isn’t small, it’s huge and will likely extend the suspension geometry way past what it’s intended for.

I’d go 2” in the front so you don’t end up having to constantly replace parts.

So the front is 37 and the rear is 38.5 so I'l looking at 1.5" to get level. If I want to lift the rear, the minimum I can go is 2.5 front 1" rear. Almost seems pointless, no?

So I see all these posts about 4" lifts, are these folks changing their suspension, shafts etc?

No, there is a 4" suspension lift. It's very similar to a 6" lift. Drop brackets that keep the factory geometry, no aftermarket shafts needed. If all you have right now is 1.5" of rake I would just do a level. Bilstiens can be set to a max lift of 2.25". If you want to raise the rear also you can go with a different block. I've heard 04-08 ones are larger than ours but there are also aftermarket ones available. If you don't want that, you can get a shackle, it'll increase articulation. If that's not your thing, a third option is an add-a-leaf.

With a level the only thing needed is either a upper shock spacer ($200ish) or a set of bilstiens (I paid $400 for all 4 shocks, I bought from stage3 motorsports). Personally I prefer the shocks over the spacers.

Your fender numbers are pretty similar to mine. I had 36 3/4" up front and out back was 38 3/4". Now with a 33" tire and the bilstiens set to 2.25" of height, my front is 40" and my rear is 39 3/4". I've thought about going with an add-a-leaf to give me some rake again but I'm not in a hurry to do so. The setup I chose cost me as follows:
Canadian vs US pricing because I bought parts and tires in the states, my install and labour related items was in Canada (where I'm from). That explains the two prices below. US prices are what I paid, converted to Canadian dollars in brackets. Below that in the second group are what I would have paid in canada if I bought my parts and tires here. Going the route I did saved $370.

US prices (Canadian equivalent in brackets)
Tires $1326 ($1800)
Shocks $420 (for all four)
($570+$63 for brokerage)
Alignment and install $485
Balance and mounting $65
Tolls $11
Duty $200

US Total $3175

If I bought everything in Canada
Tires $2400
Shocks $600+ ($400 for front only)
A&I $485
B&M 80

Can Total $3545

I think you need to search on here, there is a leveled thread that's stickied at the top of this 09-14 section. There's pics to give you an idea of what itll look like and will answer questions about people's experiences with both setups. There is also a couple of "leveled vs lifted" threads. Feel free to look them up.

I've also posted pics. I have a build thread and I think I posted in the previously mentioned stickied thread.

Suspension lifted DO add an extender to the driveshaft though.

A full 4” suspension lift is much different than a 3” level spacer. The 4” kit corrects any suspension angles that otherwise would be severe. It puts everything back to right around stock.

There’s a big price difference and a lot more work involved in a true suspension lift.

Great information. Thank you. A lot to consider.

Morris: When you say "If you want to raise the rear also you can go with a different block", are you talking about the spacer and longer U-Bolts for the rear?
