Third gear slipping?
I have 3500 miles on my 2011 f150 with the 5.0.... I havent had a single problem with my tranny till now. Every time it shifts into third gear it just bogs down.. Anyone else had this problem? All the other shift points are good. Shifting from 2nd to 3rd the rpm drops goes up and drops again.. Feels like its getting worse too...

I have the same problem, but with barely 1000 miles. The consensus seems to be the torque converter locking and un-locking. I find it annoying, doesn't do it under full throttle or half.

Im just curious if anyone has talked to a dealer about it.. Is this considered normal to ford or is it a problem.. Cause its sure a problem in my opinion. My local dealer does not have best best service department. Unless I actually have ideas or recommendations on the cause or solution they just give me the run around.

I have not brought it to my dealers attention. When I am due for my next oil change I plan on taking the truck in and talk to them about the transmission and want to make sure the light engine tick I have is normal also.

I've brought it up to my dealer and the service manager said it was normal. He gave some schtick about fuel economy. Although id rather loose the .5 a gallon it prob saves to get better shifts. This is my one gripe about these trucks along with the surge after coming to a stop which is pretty annoying also!!

I have the same issue shifting from second to third. The truck is much better than when new though. It only does it now under the lightest acceleration situations. It almost seems like the transmission is learning how to overcome this issue. Under normal acceleration the shift is now as smooth as all the other shifts. My vehicle now has 2900 miles and this is the only concern I have had so far. I would still be interested to know if anyone had success with their dealer and this issue.
