Default Third gear shift

Have no problems or with my truck very happy with it. I have noticed the tranny doesn't fully lock in when it shifts into third. Has anyone else felt this?

yes, mine seems to shift twice while in third. I don,t know if that is the converter locking or what.I have experimented with tow and maual shift mode, but could not decide if it helped. Does anyone have an explanation?

Mine does the same thing in third, two shifts. The dealer has reflashed it twice for a hard 1-2 shift but third is the same. I don't really notice it any more.

Mine does this as well. I'm pretty sure its the converter locking up. All my previous vehicles the converter locked in overdrive. Not sure why Ford has it locking in third. Feels odd. Almost like its slipping

Forgot to mention I also have a super chip and even set the shift pressure to stock values and it still shifts pretty firm from 1st to 2nd

But is there a reason why ford wants it to shift like that.

Mines all over the place at times also. No problems with the shifts, so it doesn't bother me.

this 6 speed trans is unlike any ford trans before it is what is called double clutch trans one clutch controls 1/3/5 gears while the other clutch controls 2/4/6 gears they alternate and while one is engaged the other one select the next gear and then they switch. The converter locks up early because once the truck is moving it is no longer needed and improves economy by not allowing any slipage
