Default third brake light leak question

i noticed just a bit of a leak after the last storm. i had the replacement done, and would like to know if anyone has had any issues with this? Should I still check it after each storm as i have been, or will it be ok now?

thanks

I had mine replaced a few weeks ago. The new one has a thicker gasket and so far no more leaks. Even after a torrential downpour the other day. However, I too would like to know if anyone has had any further problems after the replacement with the thicker gasket version light.

I'm hesitating about applying silicone to the seam as it will be a total PIA to remove the light and clean everything up to reinstall.

Guys, as a precaution, pick up some 3M Strip Caulk and put a bead on with the start and end at the bottom. You shouldn't have a leak again with or without the new thicker gasket....

I'd fire the engineer who designed the gasket or said it would suffice. NONE of the trucks should leak around that 3rd break light period. Its not that complicated to seal a brake light properly. I bought a 36k truck and I'm freaking worried about water leaking in during a rainstorm after seeing pictures of it happening to other guys on here. I can deal with certain mishaps expecially when things are a bit complicated but this never should have happened to any fords. Yea I know I can seal it myself with some caulking and plan to but my point is this never should happen.

I know, I said the same thing after the [first] space shuttle was lost.

BTW, have gone through the 3rd winter on my '09, heavy rain and some snow and no leaks anywhere on my truck.

I have 09 screw, had a little shower nothing hard at all and my son saw water running down back door post. I'm thinking it's probably 3rd break light. I've drove fords my whole life, nothing but ford, but this 09 is a pos. My dad been ford his whole life but last 2 he had been in shop for transmission and front end falling out. My next one probably won't have blue oval on it.

A guy I work with has an 09 and it took two times replacing the light and the headliner before they could get it fixed for him, but he said it has been good since then.

I had the brake light leak. I took it in and got it fixed. Then bought a recon third brake light so I will never have that problem again.
