Thinking of buying Toyota Tundra!

So you're trading in what I assume to be a perfectly good 2 yr old truck for a brand new $50,000+ truck, and yet your main worry is a potential minuscule mpg difference? I'm a little lost here because if gas money is such a deterrent to you that you might base a $50k decision solely on a possible 1-2 mpg difference, then what the heck are you doing getting that expensive of a truck?!
Almost seems like a troll thread.

I'd agree that the interior and payload is pathetic in the Tundras, as well as the gas mileage. I'd venture to say that the Tundra will still be on the road though when my truck is done.

Tundra... Hahaha. Frame recalls. Rear ends expoding because of the dinky differentials. Uglyiest truck on the road. Interior has looked the same the last 20 years. Look into a 5.0. Cant believe the ecoboost engine alone would turn you away from the f150.

I believe that most 'Thinking of buying a X Y' threads are trolls. NOT ALL, but most.
But it is worth it because it sometimes brings out some interesting conversation; and gems like jcain's quote:

So I agree, buy the Toy. Just remember to get out of the way of the real trucks ;-)

I had a 2000 Tundra and loved it. In 12 years of ownership, no visits to the dealer, just normal maintenance and 1 timing belt replacement. 2 month ago I decided to get a new truck. I really wanted to buy a new Tundra, but the facts and figures didn't add up. My sister has a 2009 Tundra, 4x4 with the 5.7 V8, screw. We have taken it skiing to Lake Tahoe for the past 2 years, from So calif., approx. 525 miles each way. Very comfortable ride with probably the best back seat in any truck on the market. We used the 4 wheel drive on each trip and it was very nice.
Now the downside. The mileage is terrible. Best we EVER saw on out trip was up the interstate, cruise control on, 70 mph, 17.1 mpg, no climbing, no 4x4. In the mountains and around so calif, average 10-12mpg, and my brother-in-law drives with a very light pedal. 2nd, the 5'6" bed is a joke. Even with as short as modern skis are, we had to lay them diagonal on top all our stuff to close the tailgate. What's the use of a truck like that? Last, Toyota hasn't change the truck since it was introduced in 2007, except minor cosmetic changes. They have an all new design coming out as a 2014 model, with what they say is "more conventional" styling and an all new direct injected (ecobooost?) turbo. Can't see buying a new "old" truck at $50,000.
Summary, I just took delivery of my new F150, which I had to order to get it my way. Platinum 4x4, EcoBoost, 6'6" box (skis fit) Screw. So far, still on first tank of gas around town driving, averaging 17.6mpg. Good luck, it's your money, choose carefully.

Here is my dilemma
Tundra
Love the exterior look better then Ford
Love the engine and transmission
same gas mileage as ecoboost with bigger tires and lift.
Don't like the interior
Ford
Love the interior
Not to sure about the gas mileage on ecoboost with leveling kit and bigger tires.
ecoboost reliability questionable
hate the look of the truck except the raptor
