Default Thinking about trading up.

My 04 lariat 4x4 screw is nearing 110,000 miles, although I've had zero major problems (knock on wood) in thinking about trading her in for a 2010 xlt with comfort and chrome packages. I want my monthly note to be at or below what I currently pay ($260/mo) so I know I'm somewhat limited. At the dealership nearby, they currently have around $5,500 of rebates, and I also qualify for x-plan pricing, which knocks it down to around $19,360 before the packages. My only 2 requirements in a truck are crew cab (4 week old baby, need room for car seat) and power adjustable pedals (short wife, only way she can drive it).

So, I'm guessing it'll be around $25,000 out the door price-tag, Which is roughly $370/mo. A little too rich for me right now.

So my questions are:
Should I hold off until 2011 model year end sales (this will let me get the 5.0 :-) ) to see if there are better deals then, or should I not use x-plan and haggle my way down to something more manageable?

Most I can afford to finance is $20,000 given 0% apr.

Thanks in advance.

You're not likely to haggle lower than an x-plan. Do what you can afford financially...if that means keeping your old truck then so be it.

I paid $28,500.00 after all of the incentives for my '10 XLT SuperCew with Chrome Package, Satellite radio, Power adjustable pedals, Sync and a free bed mat.

Too bad x-plan doesn't work for 09MY...

Salesman is supposed to call me back Monday with prices on the f150 and a fusion for my wife.

But about not getting a price under x-plan. Back in 04 I bought a STX for $2,000 under what x-plan could've gotten me, so it's possible, just depends on how willing you are to walk away. Plus, I like haggling. Lol.

It looks like I may be waiting for next year MY end rebates. Which isn't a big deal, I should have a better cash flow then so I'll be able to save up my pennies for a good down payment.

Thanks guys.

I don't know if I missed it, but are you trading in your '04 Lariat b/c that should knock off a few thousand. If you truly did price it at 25K before your trade in, I would think that you should be able to get down to the 20K range with that thrown into the equation.
BUT I was not aware that 2010XLT were priced as low as 25K.

X-plan + rebates/incentives bring it down to around there.

For my trade in, I'm hoping to get what I owe for it. Around $14,xxx. 108k miles, 4x4, screw, lariat with all fx4 options added in factory, jacked up 33" cepaks, 17" eagle alloy wheels. If I could get $15,xxx I'd do backflips, but they said it'll be hard to give me anything over $11,000.
