Default Are these repairs worth it to raise selling value?

Looking to sell my 2010 5.4L XLT, 177,000 miles. Question is, would it raise the value enough to put about 1000 into getting rocker covers (rockers are gone) and replacing driver side manifold to eliminate the ticking when cold? frame rust is minimal and truck drives like a dream. also needs a software update for the p0130 bulletin but other than that its great!

IMO rocker covers would be a major red flag and turn off, you are better off disclosing the rust and selling as is

How would you feel if you bought a vehicle that was covering up issues.??

Be upfront be honest and youll sleep better.

That's very shady imo.

I should clarify that the rust will be carved out and treated properly! Not just covering it how it is🤣it just won’t have new material welded

If I were buying I would want you to leave it as is so I can fix it myself correctly, if I want to fix it. You will likely spend more to fix it than you will get back out of it and possibly break something else.

I have an '08 Subaru Outback XT with a manual transmission that I'm facing a similar dilemma with. No rust at all. And it runs. But so many things it needs, and I'm wanting to sell it. I'll probably sell it as-is, with full disclosure.

Opinion here is that anything above expenses for cleaning up, e.g. washing, vacuuming, replacing easy stuff like burnt-out bulbs and wiper blades and such preventing a clean MOT inspection is money and effort spent that will not be re-couped. Don't necessarily have to voluntarily share everything else known, just be honest about it if asked.

Agree you wont get the money back. Sell it for $500 less than what you were going to ask. You'll be $500 ahead and will probably sell it quicker.
Disclose any issues you are asked about. The rest is up to the buyer to be sure of what they are buying.

Rocker and cab corner replacement are typically a big cost if done professionally.

If they are rusted to a point of breaking through, the truck will likely not pass a safety inspection.

Depending on the buyer, selling as-is disclosing the rust will likely not get you the price you're looking for, assuming.

My RCSB is in good shape but my rockers are rusted through. If I were to sell, I'd get pennies on the dollar.
