rdkev - They just blow around the trim piece...
Do they? *I been led to believe that the LH trim is jettisoned. Since the RH is bolted to the A-pillar, makes sense that wouldn't apply.

And so, you have 1st-hand 2009+ F-150 experience regarding side airbag deployment?

it's not like the A-Pillars are just gonna fly off.

*Who woulda thunk it!

UNLESS (of course) the explosive-bolts option/mod' had been installed.

The boy's about as sharp as a bowling ball.

Wow, this whole time we thought you were a robot. Not sure what you're getting at. You answered your question with my obvious answer... Don't you have some goofy text formatting to attend to? lol

The driver's side A-pillar will blow out of its top clip but since the bottom trim piece slides about 3" down into the dash it just blows the top out, the bottom will stay in place. Passenger's side A-pillar just blows apart at the top since it is bolted in.

Lol, I know about this stuff. I have a scar on my head from a projectile a-pillar trim piece supplied by a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer when my brother decided to roll a stop sign and get T'd at 55mph by a hatchback.

THANK YOU! For the real-life experience. The question was presented to a FoMoCo dealership service advisor and was told that the entire trim piece was jettisoned though he had no 1st-hand experience to back-up the information.

The reason that the question was presented to dcfluid (the O/P) ...
  • recent 1st-hand experience.
  • couldn't tell state of the A-pillar trim from pic's.
    -AND-
  • am currently working on an A-pillar trim piece mod'. *Need to determine and limit any fallout.
Passenger's side A-pillar just blows apart at the top since it is bolted in.
Just as I surmised.

Etal - FYI .....
