you're still suppose to run the recommended psi on the door tag unless you change a lot of stuff, like suspension & such.

That size tire show's to be a LT rated tire 80 psi max. For everyday driving I would run 42 psi and see how they ride at that pressure. The 80 psi on the sidewall would be the max pressure if you're carrying a heavy load or towing a heavy trailer.

I have 305-55-20's and I've been from 65, to 45 - I have settled in to 50psi.

I occasionally tow a heavy trailer (not that often) but I've found (for me) that 50 seems best.

Actually that psi should be good unless you change the tire size or add a lot of weight to the truck.

Are you running a stock tire size, or oversized tires? A taller sidewall will need a little more psi than stock.

Run it for 500-1000 miles at one psi and check the wear. Take a strait edge and lay it across the top of your tire and compare wear. If you see that the outsides are rounding over, you need more air. Look at the center and see if it is below the strait edge. If so, the tires are too hard and the centers are wearing too quickly.
