Default tailgate step cover plate OMG!!

I damaged the black plastic molding that covers the integrated tailgate step in my 2013
no big deal right? Wrong!
Dealership says its over $200 just for a 20" wide piece of black plastic molding that weighs about 10 ounces

I've tried local wrecking yards hoping to find a F150 with damaged tailgate hoping to buy just the molding and so far no luck

I just broke a chunk out of it sliding a hunting blind out of the back of it. It still works fine, its just that I would like to replace it, but not for $200

if any of you know of any aftermarket or any used parts I can get for a fair price please let me know

the Ford PN is 9L3Z-9940602-BA

here is a link for a plate that sells them a bit cheaper than the dealship
at least you can see a picture of it for reference
http://www.tascaparts.com/oe-ford/9l3z9940602ba

thanks for any help you can give me.

Ok guys, on TV they are advertising some kind of Gee Wiz liquid plastic, that hardens instantly with an UV light? Not sure I got that right, but if it works as shown, could be a fix? Think it's $20, TV ad price.

Not sure if it works!

Your post is very timely for me. Yesterday I picked up my truck from the dealer after an oil change and some warranty work. Today I discovered that the molding on my tailgate step was destroyed. The only place this could have happened was at the dealer yesterday. I'll will follow-up with the service department and see if they fess up to their mistake.

Try Tasca parts. That's where I order my oem Ford parts. Way cheaper than the dealer

I'm curious to see how you plan on blaming that on the dealer unless the warranty work was something pertaining to the bed or tailgate.

Not completely better, but a smaller pill to swallow.

Someone should make a mold of that step, then make up a handful and sell them at $100. Easy money!!!
