Default Tailgate step

I've had my 2010 for a couple months now and for the life of me I cannot get the tailgate step to come out. I'm not sure if it is broken or if there is some secret to getting it out.

Anybody else have this problem or know how to get it out?

you have to pull from the bottom first... it acts as a latch.

what he said
with tailgate open and you standing facing front of truck .. grab with fingers under the bottom lip of the 'step' .. pull up and towards you .. sometimes you need to do it with a little jerk or force and it pops right out slides toward you and then drop the step down ...

once you get it done there is also a 'step pad' you can unfold... most the time i dont .. i just leave the pad folded and use the step as is

also, throw some lube on the two arms that extend out if it seems like its not sliding very well.

A book is so 19th century it should come as an iPad or Android app that has push notifications every time you need a reference to it.

Umm I guess we should stop hijacking this thread. Did that work for you OP? I didn't get the step and I regret it now.
