Default Tailgate step

Plan on buying a 2013 screw. tailgate step seems like a great idea, but can't help but think unless you put a bed cover on it water will be running inside tailgate and will be rusting in short order. they should have at least put a seal on the top and the front of the opening. any other thoughts?

I'm about to pick up my 2012 with tailgate step. I haven't even seen the truck or how the step even works yet. Maybe a seal can be made to work? I'll have to have a look when I pick it up

Mine works great and no rust after one year of abuse...it gets wet all the time. Now that I have it, I don't know how I got along without it...

THe step is sealed. The hard plastic part, that you pull out then step on, has a rubber seal around the bottom that goes over the hole in the tail gate. Unless you spray it while washing it, I dont see water getting in there. Its sealed pretty well. I have it on my truck and it is awesome.

I like it a lot. At 72 years old it helps. Also the bedrug is easy on the knees.

I am also very happy I added this to my truck, in fact I just used it again finishing up my rollbac tonneau cover. It gets used a lot. 2013 Lariat Scab Eco 4x4 with 502a Luxury package and chrome.

I have an 07, didn't think it was that cool until I tried it at the dealer two days ago.
Now I want to trade my truck. Just for that.

Or... do like I did. Buy a $20.00 two step ladder and leave it in the bed.

Course, that's just my jealousy talking. I wanted one too.
