This is why I try not to let mine drive my truck. Unless I'm drunk then any damage she does is cheaper than a DWI so its a win win.

Treat your women right my friends, it's just a truck.

OP, Is your Lariat metallic pearl white or oxford white? If it's just oxford white, you could probably find a base XLT tailgate (similar to the one posted) and swap out your rearview camera and painted handle. I think you could probably swap the tailgate step onto the new one as well, but don't quote me on that.

It's the pearl white. Thanks a lot everyone. I'm soaking up all this info. Get back to my searching tomorrow. Even if I can come in under my deductible, I win. Kinda. Thanks again.

Sorry to hear about the insurance premium. I'm hoping mine doesn't go up. They estimated it at 1099 to fix, and my deductible is 1000. I think the insurance adjuster messed up his estimate though. I'm seeing higher prices for OEM replacement, and he said his estimate was OEM, out the door. Gonna do my CL, EB, salvage searches today... Oh, and I'm in FL, but thanks for the leads anyways. Let's me know there's some out there.

As it was said you can't just buy a tailgate from Ford. It comes in many many many pieces and isn't cheap. A friends uncle had the tailgate on his 2012 F250 King Ranch stolen. He bought one from Ford. Cost him 3600! Yes 3600!!!!!

Tailgates are different between ones with or without a step. I think tailgates with a step are more reinforced interally, but could be wrong on this. I know they have 2 different part numbers.

First off, always sorry to hear this happening to anyone. Then, it looks like there are a lot of tailgates around the price they are giving you to fix yours. If your getting new parts and the total is $1100. to fix it and a warranty. With a $1000 deductible, I personally would bite the bullet for the other $100. and not file a claim with insurance for $100 gain, with the possibility of raising your rate for this little ding. Hopefully you can find one cheaper though.
