I only recently started locking my bed... but that's mainly because the dealer and this forum have warned me that the price to pay is pretty stiff. I just keep asking why the tailgate doesn't auto-lock with the rest of the doors like the Avalanche. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

thanks, I like the connectors at the actuator. That is a good idea. I will have to look and see if I have any room there to put the screws. I have a spray in bed liner and no man step so I think I have less room.

Thanks again for the update.

Sig

Instead of machine screws, concider rivets, they are very low profile, or possably a machine screw with a counter sunk head.
Just a couple of thoughts

That is an idea, I just finished up a big project so I should have some time over the next couple of weeks to take a look and see what my limitations are.

thanks aliva

Wow.... this was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I am semi mechanically inclined and this write up helped a lot, but to get the actuator hooked up to the locking mechanism just right was a pain in the...

Running wires was pretty easy, made it pretty clean and tidy, was a little tedious but not bad but then actually mounting the actuator took nearly 4 hrs. This job was a lot of trial and error but in the end, I am glad it works and it seems to work rather well. Hope the actuator holds up, it was only $4.95 shipped to me.

It's not a big deal, also the gate locks automatically when your speed increses to about 10mpg, if you have the auto lock feature enabled.

For me the setup locks every time you hit lock, and unlocks when you hit unlock from inside the cab on the door but it only unlocks on the second press of the remote (the unlock of passenger doors). I am very pleased with this but it wouldn't have mattered to me if it unlocked every time I hit the button.

Thanks again!
