Default Tail gate step

I started to notice that when i drive down the road my truck squeaks when I hit a bump. I narrowed it down to the tailgate step. Anything I can do to get it to stop? I have already sprayed it with lubricant and it stopped for a day. Anyone have this similar issue?

Is there something loose on it? Where is it squeaking at?

My tailgate squeaks at the latches. If I lightly shut it, it tends to do it. If I give it a little push, it wont.

I've checked the hinges it's not that. I am unsure where exactly in the step it's coming from because it only does it when the gate is closed. I am about to start wrapping **** in duct tape lol.

I second that I have the same squeak I bet you it is the post that your tailgate latches to. Mine wore down to bare metal and squeaked on bumps.

Yep , my 2012 tailgate step does it also. Really makes a noise if you shut the tailgate hard. Not one of ford's better ideas. Not a good set up on a couple different levels. Rest of the truck is AWESOME , but everyone has their "something" about their truck and that step would be my one thing I don't like. Was thinking about seeing if I could swap it for a regular tailgate at the junk yard.

I mean it's embarrassing to have a lowered truck on 26s and the thing squeaks lol.

Mine went away with my undercover so it seems the only logical repair is to purchase a hard cover for your bed.
