I would imagine its only when carplay is on, and if not, goes back to Sync2 since the board mods to and bridges with the original. Don't see any functionality for going back to Sync2 once in Carplay though.

@$200~ it peaks my interest. But it also says 2013-14 F150 is supported and doesn't list 2015 and thats what I have. I imagine it'd work with mine and its probably just the misconception that Ford went to Sync3 with 2015.

But, the point of the discussion seems to be to get carplay. Not to continue with Sync, which everyone already has. Also, it will most likely default to carplay/AA when you turn on the truck. Just pointing that out.

I'm not familiar with carplay, but AA has an "app" on its screen for Sync so you can go back to it when necessary. I assume it's similar.

My other vehicles with carplay don't have a button to exit. But this functionality doesn't appear to be "true" carplay as its mostly screen mirroring (judging by a screenshot of what appears to be a movie). Similar, but CarPlay by default locks down certain applications (i.e. Netflix etc) that aren't suggested for driving. That said, one of the screenshots shows a "Home" button with an exit style icon with CarPlay. That could be something that takes you back in to Sync2...but Sync2 won't have anything to toggle back to CarPlay. That's why I am interested in what his experience is like with this device.

The only limitation is that some trucks have features only available from SYNC, like heated/cooled seats. So if you just swapped in a generic aftermarket CarPlay unit, you'd have CarPlay but not heated seats. These specific aftermarket units are promising to keep the OEM features while adding CarPlay/AA.

Basically what this kit does is act like you have 2 computers(SYNC 2 & CarPlay) hooked up to 1 screen and you hit buttons on the steering wheel to change it back and forth. So you still keep your original SYNC 2 and when you want CarPlay you hit buttons on the wheel to swap it.

I'm not a fan of that so I'm going to sell it, still brand new in the box, and just do a SYNC 3 upgrade.

If anyone wants it PM me. I'll sell it for $160 shipped.

What button(s) do you hit on the steering wheel to toggle between the Sync and Carplay displays?

I tried this SYNC2 carplay kits but returned it. I don't recommend. Steering wheel controls are a bit confusing and resolution is poor

It will be better to upgrade SYNC3 , 1080P screen is super clear and responds quick. It is closer to factory carplay without any lag

Is that really a 1080p screen? Do you have link to the specs?
