Irebel.....have you tried your usb drive on a computer? Does the music play properly in it?
yes of course how do you think the mp3 got on the flash drive.
I thing that gets me is that you would think that after spending so much money on a vehicle that they would put in better players. Why is it I can go down to best buy and get a radio with usb that works properly and same as my TV and media player and game consoles etc... they all work great and spend under 200.00 but buy a vehicle and spend a awful amount of money and they put in cheaper outdated crap.
lol Welcome to the 21 century. I asked them at the ford dealer but no one could help me. When it goes to the tuneups I ask every time and there is always no one that knows anything about it. It not the end all but I would like to get it to work. I do love the in sync though. What a great feature

What I meant did you play the audio files with the media player? Were they listed properly or are they listed as unkown? I used WMA for the audio format and never had a problem once I made sure Meta Tags were assigned.

Having USB issues such as this. Really starting to **** me off. I'll be playing a song shut truck off, then when I come back the radio will either a, not read the USB, b, read the USB but reset to the first song or c, not read the USB even after I hit source line in button. Or once in a while the can not play copy written material. Really annoying me, anyone know a fix?

Thanks

Default usb won't read itunes music.

I have a 4gb usb thumb drive with a bunch of music off my itunes and I have never been able to get it to work on my 2013 fx4. The drive is a fat 32 format. It works on my girlfriends equinox and also works on my other car which is a corolla with an aftermarket kenwood head unit. When it tries to play it states "sync does not support the playback of copyrighted material". I have tried to hit play as others have stated but it will not work. As another previous person posted I believe it has something about the DRM apple uses with their music which is an encryption they use to authenticate the devise that it is on. It would probably be possible to convert these files to a different format but that is gonna be a royal pain in the a**!!! That may be what I end up having to try but is very frustrating when this is music I bought and paid for but cannot play it through ford sync. Plays just fine through other systems though. My thoughts are sync sucks....just my 2 cents.

If your iTunes music is "DRM'd" from Apple, then it will play only in iTunes and only on computers that you have authorized or on iPods that you have sync'd with those same computers. It won't play anywhere else. DRM'd music files on a USB drive won't play anywhere. Apple DRM music files will have "m4p" as a file extension (the last 3 letters of the file name, as in "some_song.m4p").

My 2013 FX 4 (Sync/MFT/Sony/NAV) plays both MP3 and M4A files just fine. I just drag them out of iTunes and onto the USB drive. I've tested 8, 16, 32 and 64G USB drives and they all work fine.

After reading this thread, and always being Paranoid someone would break in my truck and steal my iPod touch connected by USB cable! I bought a 16gb $10 mini USB drive...

I simply plugged the drive in my pc, went to my ITunes with over 3000 songs and drug them to my USB drive! Took about 3 minutes to complete, plugged it into my USB in the truck and Bam.... Works great, cant see the USB drive at all... And now, no more worrying about my ipod as it plugged into my home theater ipod dock!

Yes I did play them with my media player. Not sure why you ask? and Yes they have tags. I have not tried WMA files and I think I'll try that next maybe this weekend. I had one usb flash drive working kind of. It was playing before but I don't think I can I could search it. That was months ago.

Someone mentioned that they put mp3's on a cd and it worked or was it they made a cd of music? If I can't get the usb to work maybe I'll try the mp3 cd. That's if the person did put mp3's on a cd. Some how I don't think it will work but I'll try it always I can still use in on my dvd player.
I am open for any persons suggestions.

Hi, irebel -

Where do you download music from? Is your thumb drive formatted to FAT 32?

Hey, HardcoreOffroading -

Does this only happen on Bluetooth audio? I recommend soft resetting your iPhone by holding down the sleep/wake and home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, then try using this feature again.

Let me know what happens.

Jaclyn
