Default 5.0L Oil change question.

I'm about to change the oil on my 2012 5.0L for the first time since I bought it.

My oil change light hasn't come on yet but I've put 10,000kms on so it's time to change IMO.

How many liter's of oil do I need? I'll be running 5W30 full synthetic.

Any tips or suggestions I should know about before changing oil/filter?

Do you guys usually follow the oil life monitor?

Look in your owners manual for oil capacity....

Spec's are in the owner's manual (along with the procedure to reset the oil life monitor).

Don't have one ?

Thanks guys. I have an owner's manual but it's at home. I want to pick up the oil/filter on my way home from work.

I've always ran 5w30 in all my vehicles. Any problem if I put 5w30 in my 5.0L? Or should I just get the 5W20?

Have used 5W30 since the 1st oil change (@ 500 miles) and haven't had any issues (currently 27,000 miles).

Did the same for a 4.6L 2V Crown Victoria (recommended was 5W20) and haven't had any issues (currently 121,000 miles).

In both cases, Blackstone Laboratories oil analysis indicates everything is within spec's or better.

from what I understand most bearing wear is at start up so believe that's why most manufacturers are using lighter oil then they use to.
