Default Sync Updating

I was wondering if anyone has updated their Sync themselves or do most of you take it to the dealer? I haven't ever updated the Sync on my truck (since new in 2014). Lately it's been acting up and I'm thinking it's because it hasn't ever been updated. I tried to follow the instructions on the website but I'm not having any success. Thanks for any help.

Do you know what version you have now? I have a 2013 with Sync . I have not been on the website in years but last time I did you entered your Vin and Ford would tell you if your version was up to date. If it was not you could download the newer version to your computer, move it to a thumb drive to install on your truck.

I did numerous times with my previous F150's. Can't do that now with the '21.

I just spent hours doing this a few weeks ago. Make sure you have a fresh and formatted drive and put the file on it. I can't remember how I had to put the file (as far as in a folder or not) but I can check if you can't get it to work. Put the thumb drive in (engine on) and go phone>scroll to return>Scroll to advanced>install application. It WILL NOT automatically start the install like the Ford website says. If it fails try to organize the file on the drive differently, (I think I even ended up reformatting the drive to the other option than Ford says) Also it will say install complete but you have to wait for it to say it a second time before it's done (this took me a while and it's hard to wait with your truck idling). It took lots of trial and error and I can't remember exactly what the magic combo was but this should give you a pretty good head start.

Look at the sync bluetooth audio sticky thread at the top of the forum for this.

It keeps telling me No File Found.

What version number of Sync do you have now and what version number does the website say is available for your truck? A couple things I would try. Format the drive to fat32 or whatever th site recommends. Only have the updated file on the drive so as to not confuse Sync. I'm not sure if the file is a zip file but if it is you would need to open it. Last do the master reset and then try to do the upgrade. Be sure Bluetooth is off on the Sync and your phone so as not to confuse Sync. Just a few things to try. Good luck.

Default Error LST_005 or LST_ERR005

I still have not been able to upgrade my maps in my 2018 Ford Edge. I found an error on the download to a flash drive site:

You get an error LST_ERR005, because the license file is the wrong file. If you go on Ford's website and search for "Why am I getting the LST_005 error you will see:
  • If your vehicle has SYNC 3 v3.0, there should be seven (7) files in the SyncMyRide folder. If the JR3T-14G242-CF.TAR.GZfile is missing, you will see the LST_005 error when attempting to install the map update.
  • If your vehicle has SYNC v3.3 or v3.4, there should be 15 files in the SyncMyRide folder. If the 4U5T-14G424-CD.TAR.GZ file is missing, you will see an LST_005 error when attempting to install the map update.
When I downloaded my files the License file is JR3T-14G424-CF.TAR.GZ - Notice the file is not 242, but is 424. If you put the license file in the SyncMyRide folder the program bombs out. It is looking for a file called JR3T-14G421-CE - but there is no file by that name so it bombs out and issues a LST_005 error.

I called Ford and they still have not figured this out. My 7 files I think unzipped just fine. The problem is the license file is wrong. You can use WinRAR and see what the license file has - 2 simple files that are wrong. I just do not understand why they had to make it so difficult. In any event my maps are still NA 1 15 which I think are from when the programs was started as my house that was built 5 years ago is not on them. Unless I can get the Map Upgrade to work I am stuck with the map I have.

By the way make sure the flash drive is about 20 gigs and format it using ex-fat and not NTFS. If you get the right files you might be able to upgrade your maps - I still am stuck with my LST_005 error.

unless I am mistaken this forum should be limited to 2014 F150 and older F150 models. This would be Sync 2 not 3.

I believe the most recent sync version is 3.10.

regardless easy to do. Helpful upgrade? Not so sure. I had previously added Navigation to older versions of Sync using Forscan . I have not been able to do so on my personal 2014 Lariat once updating the original sync.

depending on what version you have you can simply do it by wi-fi.
