Hi Candy Red F150 FX4,

I'm not showing the Nexus 4 as a tested and compatible device for the SYNC texting feature. In order for a device to be considered compatible, it must be able to deliver a SYNC feature reliably and consistently. In some occasions, phones may exhibit partial functionality - in these situations, the phone will not be published as compatible until it demonstrates full feature functionality.

It's possible that your device's partial functionality could be interfering with other SYNC operations, which is causing your radio to behave the way it does. I recommend performing a full clean pairing:

It's important to delete all Bluetooth histories between your phone and SYNC before reconnecting. Upon reconnection, decline SYNC's permissions to access your phone's messages, then check the "Do not ask again" box. This should prevent SYNC from trying to reach into the Message Access Protocol (MAP) on your Nexus.

Hi FM_Lariat,

Which kind of phone do you have and who is your carrier?

Hi thanks for the link and the advice.

Like I say I have taken the truck to Ford and we have tried the master reset and disconnecting the phone and reconnecting just like your video says to do.

The issue we have found with this is that Sync doesn't prompt us for anything about messaging. It connects and asks to download phone book and that's it. Those are all of the options I get when pairing my phone.

Before I had the update done Sync used to ask me about messages but now it no longer does.

I also have 2012 with the first flavor of Sync. It's too bad Ford has not updated our versions to allow text messages with Smart Phone. I have an Apple 4s that the text feature works in my wife's 2011 Edge.

How about a fix Ford!

Candy Red F150 FX4,

Do you recall if SYNC was ever formally unpaired from your phone? It sounds like your device might be retaining your SYNC preferences, which would only be the case if the SYNC profile remained listed as a previously paired device. Check under your Bluetooth settings on the phone, then tap on the gears next to SYNC. Select the UNPAIR option on the next menu, then confirm. You will need to remove your phone from SYNC once more, but upon pairing your phone should prompt you for your text messaging permissions, which you would decline.

FM_Lariat,

The last RAZR Maxx firmware to be tested with MFT was 6.12.181.XT912 Verizon.en.US. Check under your device settings to see which version your phone is currently running as our testing information may be out of date. The first starting point I would always suggest would be to remove SYNC from your phone as a previously paired device (Bluetooth menu>SYNC>Unpair) then remove your phone from SYNC (Phone menu>settings>Bluetooth devices>tap on phone to highlight>delete).

When connecting your phone, give the reverse pairing a try, which seems to work best with Droids: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...c-myford-touch After pairing your phone, keep an eye out for any prompts on your RAZR requesting permission for SYNC to access your text messages. If the behavior persists, this points to the possibility that your phone might not be compatible with the current form of MFT software.
