More than likely the problem is not with sync. Your phone likely doesn't fully implement the Bluetooth standard, though I have no experience with the s3. Stock android as on a nexus device does not read texts.

I have a Motorola Droid Razr Maxx and the text read works flawlessly, I do however have a problem with the AI accent.

It's not Bluetooth - it's when you connect via usb.

Bluetooth works 100% of the time, never fails.

It's a sync problem, it can't connect to the hundreds of devices over several operating systems - simple answer is that it *should* work, but may not.

Yours reads texts via USB? Didn't know any of them do that.

No, not via usb, I meant the issues usually come up when you're connected via usb rather than BT.

I always use BT and have no issues, I use the usb for my ipod, which has had issues.

Got it. Yea. Usb is super buggy. I never even try. The op was having issues with reading texts overt bt. I've found that to be phone specific since not all manufacturers fully implement the BT standard.

Using BT sync is just acting as a dumb received and passing audio. USB in uses sync index files and it has issues with file systems that have things other than music. And god forbid you change a file.....

The issue is with settings in SYNC, the S3 and S4 as well as the Note 2 all support Blue-tooth MAP which allows for text notifications over car stereos with the capability. It also allows for music data to be displayed on most car stereos as well.

You must ensure that MAP is turned on in Blue-tooth settings and that Text Notification is enabled. All of this is done on SYNC. You need to delete the Pairing of your phone and re-pair it with SYNC, and when prompted allow it to access messaging.

Currently USB streaming does not work with any Android phone, it is on the future path to be released hopefully sometime this year.

Basically, they said, Sorry, that is all we tested and we are too busy to keep up. I took the list to my cell service provider specifically to buy a phone that Ford says works. My provider said the Syncmyride list was worthless as all the phones listed were at least 1 1/2 to 3 years old and nobody sells them any more. I went back to Ford and asked when the list was going to be updated. No reply other than Sorry!

I am beyond p...ed at Ford's attitude. I will make sure any acquaintance I know hears this before buying a Ford Product.
Mike,

I have a 2011 and the solution I gave you was a solution that people with the Galaxy S3 had shown on that forum to have fixed that problem.

Furthermore, I had a co-worker in my office today who has the S3 and went to lunch with him. I happen to have read your post again today and went through the process of pairing his phone to my 2011 truck and sent him a text message. It worked without fail and read it to me as I had expected.

So to summarize:

In my 2011, the following phones have all been paired and WORKED with text messaging and reading the messages to me:

1. Samsung Blaze 4G
2. Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket
3. Samsung Galaxy S3
4. Samsung Galaxy Note 2

They all worked just fine and the same as the other in my truck once you switch on the MAP control via the phone menu in the truck.

Wow. I have a 2011 and everything works with my S3 EXCEPT text messaging! I have unpaired the phone, turned MAP on and when I try to get into the messaging menu it just says "Unsupported" (of course I had the phone re-paired by then).

What gives?! Can anyone help me? I really need the texting feature to work for me.
