sounds like a bad flash, if that is the case, nothing much you can do other than take it into the dealership. they may have a way to force flash it without it in current working order, or may have to replace it all together...

peace

If you pulled it out after it said that it was downloaded complete (when connected to the truck), then keep it in, its kind of tricky it will do it again and thats when its actually complete. Hope that fixs the problem, remember plug it in and wait for the second download complete or update complete.

Yea it will say "download complete, rebooting..." and then you have to wait almost 6 minutes and it will wake up again and say "download complete."

What a stupid operation. It's hard to believe that anyone would think that having to wait until you get a second message saying "download complete" would be acceptable.

Well the Ford instructions do tell you to wait until you receive the second message before you unplug the USB stick.

The SYNC voice will say, "Installation complete." SYNC may also say, "The system will now reboot. Please wait a few moments before using the system."
NOTE: The system will reboot, which will take several minutes. Do not use the system during this time.
Installation Complete will remain on the SYNC display until you exit the installation mode.
Press MENU to exit installation mode.
Please remove the USB storage drive at this time.

i agree that the operation is dumb, but its microsoft, so what do you really expect?

Anyways, it would be VERY hard to figure out how to install it without reading the directions, its hard to find the right menu options and what not, so when you (not necessarily YOU, but the proverbial you) read directions, be sure to read closely, and not skim.

Wouldn't a message like " Step 1 completed" make more sense. I my case, I wanted to rake a few leaves during the 8-20 minutes it took to complete the operation. Given the fact that the message was the same at both levels, I was tied to the vehicle for that entire time. I couldn't leave the vehicle and return and know where the operation was. I realize the instructions were clear, but there is a better way. I will stick to my statement, what a stupid operation.

May sound silly, but try to unplug and re-plug the fuse for sync.

When I got my truck sync wasn't working. They had made an appointment for me to go in and get it fixed. It was like it wasn't even installed. You'd press the button and no change at all. That night I then found the correct fuse in the passenger side kick panel and took it out, looked good so I put it back in. Turns out that it started working once I did that. Perhaps it needs to be re-seated or reset. I'm not sure of the reset procedure, but I do remember a thread about that..

Cheers,
Joe
