"UPDATE" '12 5.0 that delveoped a "knock" NOW GETTING A NEW ENGINE
My '12 XLT Scab with the 5.0 with 26000 miles on it has developed an intermittent "knock" It seems to be on the right side of the motor. It seems to come and go but lately is there most of the time. Only when the motor is hot and at idle. The build date of the truck is 1/12 I have had it a year. The dealer is looking at the TSB for the timing chain tensioner. But from what I have read on this is it is on the left side of the motor. The knock on mine is on the right side. The truck runs fine, oil pressure is where it always is and it is not running hot. I guess I will just have to wait and see what they come up with. http://youtu.be/PXpMNa3b6fk Here is a video of what it sounds like. The service writer and the shop foreman have heard the sound.

From what I heard that is a loud tick not a knock which tells me your bottom end is just fine. Could be something with the cam(s) followers or timing chain tensioner but it is not a knock.

This event was nothing like you knock, But, ford just replaced my engine ( long block)
off an asembly line, direct to a dealer ( Sarasota Ford ) . Cost to ford from Sarasota Ford
$ 10,700 Yikes!! Rental car to me ( 7 Days ) Ford notified me 2 days after completion
that they were giving me a extended warranty ( 5 years / 75000 miles )
My 150 had 7400 miles on it when this happened. # 2 cylinder was misfireing
( coolant leaking into cylinder)

Got the call from the dealer this afternoon. The TSB did not correct the problem. They are going to keep the truck and have a Field Service Engineer look at it now. They mentioned getting some oil samples. Not sure what they searching for there. Truck has been serviced every 5K miles. Think I will contact Ford Customer Care on this just to get it on record. I will update as I get more info from them.

UPDATE!!!!
Got the call from the Dealer this afternoon. The Field Service Engineer has looked at it and said the Motor (SHORT BLOCK) needs to be replaced. He did not have the full information as to what was actually wrong. It was not the Service Writer that I have been dealing with. I will go down Monday and see if I can dig any useful info out of them.
They said it will take a week and a half to get the replacement and a week to install it. They have had is since Tuesday. So if EVERYTHING goes as planned it will be down for almost a month. I will be contacting Ford Customer Care to open a case and to see what they have to say about it. I will update this thread as I get more information.
