Default Sync/Bluetooth Failure

I tried searching through the threads, but didn't find anything useful. Anyway, in the midst of a 12 hour drive yesterday from S. AZ to my home in CO, the bluetooth connection between my phone (Samsung Galaxy s5) and the radio in my 2014 XLT (27K miles on the odo) stopped working.

I've tried everything, fiddling with the bluetooth settings on my phone, master reset of my radio, I even called customer service (who told me to take it into the dealer...thanks). Bottom line, my phone can't find Sync anymore. Even my thumbdrive in the USB port isn't working correctly (says "bad media" for 1/2 the songs). Again, this started out of the blue while driving, no specific event happened.

Phone works fine with other bluetooth devices (actually used my portable speaker in the truck last night so I could listen to the Joe Rogan Podcast while driving through BFE Utah) so I am certain it is the sync in my radio. I don't have MFT, just the 4 inch screen.

Any advice or ideas? I was wondering if re-installing Sync 4.4 is a worthwhile try or just a waste of my time. I gotta admit, between this, the blown and crappy speakers and the general PITA that is Sync is making me question my plans to order another $40K truck in 2017. While it's great that the truck is under warranty, it's a PITA to take my truck in. Thanks in advance for the help.

Disconnect the positve battery terminal for 10 mins, see if that helps the issue.
