Default Sync acting up

So lately my sync has been acting strange. From time to time it stops recognizing phone voice controls. When this happens it refuses to reconnect to my phone, though sometimes it still dials if I press dial on the phone.

It's odd sometimes the mic won't work. But it will react to voice commands for Bluetooth audio.

Any ideas?

Sync working fine, updated iPhone software from 4.2 to 4.3.1 (AT&T). My phone would connect via bluetooth, act like it was making a call (actually it was) but there was no audio on either end.

Also, had a hard time connect to phone after phone OS upgrade

Fix:

Turned off truck and exited to shut down all truck functions. On the iPhone, deleted the SYNC entry under General-Bluetooth.

Started truck, deleted iPhone entry.

Then, on the truck, selected add phone, set iPhone to search for SYNC and then entered access number provided on truck screen.

All is well. Have not experienced any problems since.

Also have a 16 GB Scandisk USB thumbdrive connected. Its has been and stays connected since I've owned the truck and has not given any problems.

Don't know what the problem with USB might be, but the thumb drive I use has been working fine.

Have noticed that if truck software is upgraded and now the iPhone is upgraded, I have to Re-SYNC all phones.

Now that I've said all that, I'll be the next to post with problems.

Good Luck

Got a replacement iPhone 4 this weekend and now my bluetooth won't connect to Sync. not sure if it's the phone or the Sync being wonky...

I'm betting the iphone software has something to do with it. Updated my 3gs with 4.3.1 and now I have all kinds of issues. Sync dials, makes a call, but is completely muted, or Sync doesn't even recognize the phone. Separately my work e-mail won't download any messages now. It says it does, but nothing appears. Ready to chuck the iphone into the Gulf of Mexico.

I've noticed from reading many, many threads about iPhones and Sync there seems to be an inherent issue. It really is an unfortunate situation bordering on suck-dom.

My 2 year old BB Storm works fine with Sync, all functions. I've never updated the Sync, either.

I care less if you use Apple products or Microsoft, I'm not a real fan of either, but from reading all these threads, Apple seems to have the most problems with Sync.

I hope they finally get the problem resolved cuz when Sync works as it's supposed to, it's really is a good feature (after you master how to use it).

I have intermittent voice recognition too, and the dealer has traced it to a bad connection in the microphone harness. Still waiting on the part.

Did you follow the directions above in post #4 for re-pairing truck and phone?

Currently running iPhone 4 with software version 4.3.1, same problems at first --- *** UNTIL *** --- I delete the bluetooh SYNC on BOTH the truck and the phone. You have to reestablish (pair again) that link when you update any software (Truck or Phone). Until you do that, its not going to work.

Update to 4.3.1 on iPhone on Saturday, had problems all Saturday and Sunday. No volume, could not hear or talk. Then Sunday afternoon deleted both and re-SYNCed both truck and phone. My phone problems went away.

You can't change/update software and expect the OLD pairing to work properly.

Apple is crap, and they design their crap so it only works with their crap, people blame Microsoft, but its only crapple that has problems, and some no name flash drives from what ive seen but thats user error. Once you format them correctly they work fine. Ive had a blackberry tour, motorola razor, and a motorola milestone paired to mine and they all work flawlessly. Used a couple of Ipods and always had a problem, switch to flash drives, no more problem. Ive even seen apple fanboys on this forum admit that its a problem on apples side, supposedly they are working on a fix for it, though that was a while ago, maybe they have the fix already if you do what the above post says.
