Default Super Duty Bed Extender in F150?

I'm looking to purchase a factory bed extender for my F150 Screw 5.5' bed, and like the looks of the one offered for the super duty over the one offered for the F150. Does anyone know if the super duty extender will fit in the F150? Has anyone used the extender for the super duty on their F150? Any pics of one installed?

I've tried searching many times, and the results come back about F150 extender fitting with whatever tonneau cover or bed liner installed.

Thanks.

Default Bed Extender: F150 vs. F250

I like the looks of the F250 bed extender over the F150 version as well.

Checking the published dimensions of the bed on the Ford website and in the F150 brochure, the F250 is 69.3" wide (at the floor) versus 65.2" for the F150.

The F250 bed is 4.1" wider.

It appears they both mount the same way...so the best bet might be to visit your friendly local dealer and see if they'll let you do a quick test fit to your F150 from a Super Duty on the lot.

Good luck.

Ok. I finally got around to researching if the two extenders are interchangeable.

The short answer is NO!

I compared the Body Builder Layout books for both the 2011 F150, and Super Duty. The difference in measurements was 0.3 inches wider on the Super Duty vs. F150. The 3 mounting holes on the side of the bed are the same for both trucks. So I took one for the team, and ordered the Super Duty Extender. They are the same price for both at my dealer. I installed the driver side, and tried to fold it up in the stow position. It would not stow away without binding, and hitting the rear of the wheel well. So that is why the F150 Extender has the notch(dip) in the corners of the extender. It's to accommodate the rear portion of the wheel well in the bed when folded. The Super Duty Extender also has the vertical locking rod that engages the hole at the edge of the tailgate like that of the F150. It did not line up with that hole on the F150 without having to flex the extender towards the hole.

Fortunately my dealer is going to exchange the Super Duty Extender for the F150 version without charging me a restocking fee. So I should have it in a couple of days. So there's the answer for those wanting the Super Duty Extender for the F150.
