Default Go big!

I went from an Explorer with a 3rd row seat to the Supercrew. I have the 40-20-40 bench seat up front and have made several trips of more than 6 hours with 2 kids up front and my wife, 2 kids and a Labrador retriever in the back seat. Add a cooler, blankets, pillows, and phones, computers, DVD players and all the other stuff they need. We then stack, stuff and tie on all the toys in the back and top off the 36 gallon gas tank. With the Explorer I had to pull a trailer. Ask yourself - How much do I carry? How often? How long?

My question is, for the guys with Super cabs do you regret not getting the crew? How do car seats fit in the back? From the pictures it looks like there is the same amount of leg room in the back of a 2013 f150 Super cab as there is in my buddy's 2012 Silverado crew cab.
I bought mine before having my kid, now with the second on the way and getting two car seats.. I kinda wish I had gone for the Screw but I know I would have not been happy with it. Payload sucks, looks like a cross-over and a small bed is not for me. Yes, you can get the heavy duty towing package and go with a longer bed but then you are in deeper in $$$. Instead, we upgraded my wife's car.. win win.
Love my Scab.

One thing that bothers me when getting out and back in with my fam is the rear doors! we don't always use my truck since it's my work truck but on the days I feel like driving my truck.. I dread parking next to other vehicles.

I sold my super cab after having a kid. It wasn't big enough for the kid dog and gear to goto the cabin.

Bought a super crew with 6.5' box. I love it. Tons of room for the family and gear plus I can put my quad or sled in the back.

I think the 6.5' box looks better also.

It's my new family vehicle. Better then a minivan. Lol.

I bought a 13 super cab and a year later I traded it in on supercrew. I don't think know I'll ever go back to a super cad after having the crew, love the room in the back. Also I got the 6.5 box with the crew, no regrets on the overall length.

It's nice having a lot of room for bags with the seats flipped up in a supercrew. Also I was told by my insurance broker the supercrew is cheaper to insure than the supercab due to safety. Plus I find the supercrews look 1000x better. Just my opinion though

That's not possible because the cab is longer than the bed. J/K But that is JMO.

I got my Supercab for the same reasons you are considering it. I hunt alot and have a quad so i wanted the 6.5ft box but didnt want the length of a supercrew with the 6.5ft box. I dont regret it at all. I have had my two youngest brothers in the back many times in their car seats and they have tons of room. I just make sure i take their shoes of everytime or else they purposely kick the seats.

A car seat fits in a scab but you might have to move one of the front seats up a little depending on the car seat. I had to move the passenger seat up since I couldn't comfortably move mine. The biggest pain is the rear doors. It sucks trying to get a baby in and out of the back seat in a parking lot. Once they're bigger they can get themselves in and out but you still have to open the front door to let them out.
I swore I'd never get a crew cab but after dealing with the rear doors I bought one. I still think a scab 6.5' bed looks the best but the extra room is worth it to me. Even if Ford went with a smaller rear door that opened out I don't know if I'd go back.

I'm surprised Ford didn't switch to conventional doors like everybody else for the 2015+ Scab. From what I've seen there is plenty of room for a normal size person to fit in the back seat of the Scab.
FYI, the 2015, although suicide, will now swing all the way open to the bed sides eliminating the need of doing the scab shuffle.

OP, I have a scab and have three kids, they were all older, 14,10,10 and they fit fine. As they got older it got a little cramped.

It's great for about an hour or two for an adult of average size. As others have mentioned, the rear facing might be a pain but the full 6.5' bed is great! That extra foot makes a difference.

I was also in your shoes and could not justify the extra money for the extra inches.
