[1]How did you go about cutting the headliner?
[2]How did you mount the panel to keep it securely attached?
[3]Can you tell us more about these panels? What sizes to they come in? Do they come with blanks switch covers for expansion? Any documentation links would be great.
[4]Based on your knowledge of the products they make, is there anything that would mount well in place of the gunglasses holder? My biggest concern is keeping a flush factory look. I've been considering maybe permanently seizing up the holder so that it becomes a mounting base. Any other ideas would be appreciated!

Edit: I'm going to take a look in the morning, but just don't think sunroof models have the same space on the hump there like you do.
1) blue tapped a large area, lined up the switch base, marked it, then used a very sharp exacto knife. It actually cuts Very easiliy/well, made a mess, almost like cutting foam. I made a smaller hole first... i would make sure the first cut is perfect, its a pain trimming a small part.

2)The switch holder has these pressure mounts, so you could cut a plastic or metal back brace and have it snap in. I used a thinner plastic then eventually used steel stick to make it very sturdy and very flush.

3)I used a 6 switch panel. Its one piece. they also sell components so you could make it any size, i'm glad i went with the one piece, i feel the components may be trouble, but have no experience with them.

4) What i know is pretty much summed here. Your sunglass holder seemed slightly large than the dual one? so that could be a good mounting spot. you could prob just cut a square hole and pop the switches in.

For those of us with Nav systems, what about using the small cubby above the screen, where the LCD is located on Non-Nav equipped models?

I think it's easily possibly, and would look pretty good, and OEM. Just remove the small rubber tray that's there now to cut a hole for the wiring, and you could put the rubber tray back in if you ever want to go back to stock. Then add a filler plate to fit between the top of the dash and the radio trim to mount the switches on. The only problem that I may run into is where I'm using the switches from OTRATTW, they might be too large to fit in there.

When my switches get in, I'll let you guys know what I find.

If you go to the top of the thread you will see a button that says "Thread Tools". If you click on that you can subscribe to a thread without posting in the thread.

Sorry to bring this old post back to life, but on my 09 one of the sunglass holders has fallen out and I really like the idea of putting a switch panel up there.. My question is, how do you guys run the wiring up there? Is it a pain?

No it's super easy. Just go along the A-Pillar and along the front of the headliner. You shouldn't have to even pull the headliner down to do it.
