Sunglasses Holder Upfitter Panel Idea
I've searched various forums and seen the different ways people are doing upfitters. I would say the majority of the posts I've seen fall into one of three categories:
I think these are all fine ways of doing an upfitter panel, but I don't particularly like either one. The raptor panel is expensive, says raptor on it, and comes with those pesky round buttons. The flat panels don't look so great, and take up storage space. Single switches drilled into the dash are great for a single switch, but I'd like more.
So, I sat around in my truck last night thinking. I was trying to find a location that didn't compromise storage space, wouldn't require drilling into plastic, and could be easily reached while driving. Then it hit me: the sunglasses holder. It's useless to me, very easily accessed, and won't require drilling into the dash.
So, now I'm trying to think of the most factory looking way to do it. I intend to use otrattw switches. Has anyone seen a panel done here before? What types of plastic could I use to achieve a factory looking finish? Are there any OEM parts from ford I could use as a base? I know there's different configurations depending on your model. I've got a 2013 FX4 with a sunroof.
TLDR; I'm trying to turn my sunglasses holder into an upfitter panel. I'm trying to brainstorm ideas, and wanted input. Thanks.
- Raptor Panel
- Flat plastic panel (same location as raptor)
- Single switch drilled into dash

They have a HUGE selection that is not displayed on the website, if you ask what you are looking for, they may have it, if not, they can make it.

This is exactly what I was thinking of doing. How much room is there behind that to mount the switches? Did the wiring or switches protrude into the sunglass holder? Did you just cut the headliner out for the switch panel?
