This is all you need - http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...SABEgJstfD_BwE - no messing with line output converters, no removing the head unit. Just a simple, sub and amp add on.
Yes you can use the factory wires for signal, however, you will still have the factory bass/signal dropoff at higher volume levels that the Sony amp forces through the stock system. If you haven't already noticed, that's one of the major downfalls of the Sony system. The factory bass is horrible and it pulls it way back at higher levels in an effort to preserve the speakers. All it does it make them sound worse.

You can get a much higher quality LOC like this one:

Amazon Amazon

It specifically has a feature built into it that eliminates the bass drop off and it can be dialed in when to have it happen or not allow it at all. That is what I use and will have for sale soon now that I have a Lc6i going in soon.

Dude thank you! Totally forgot about that. So still simply use the factory plug and splice it into the LOC? Still super easy!

Yes use factory plug for signal, Fuse 38 I believe it is in passenger kick panel for 12v remote wire, ground it to either the seat bolt or factory sub bolt, and run your positive wire from the battery. Done. That's how mine is setup now and has been for years.

Awesome, thanks for the help. Already have everything I need besides the LOC and a box w/ sub. Can't wait now to install one now, lol

This is a good box. Put the amp behind the rear seat on the bottom of the back panel. Tap into the stock sub wires and run a remote wire up to the fuse box using a tap a fuse. You will need shallow mount 10's or 12's. Also make sure you add a remote bass boost **** to solve the bass dropoff that guys talked about. Bass boost **** 100% resolves that giving you full flexibility on the bass level.

Don’t buy a Fox Box. The company is horrible.

This is from a Fox Box owner.

How so?

I'm not arguing, just very curious since I'm considering one of their boxes...

I bought this one from amazon. only problem was that the hole was 11 1/2" so I had to use a jigsaw and trim it a bit to use my pioneer shallow mount sub. I went this route because I needed to use the flat floor on most days and the box is only 3-4 inches wider than the OEM sub box. I'm also using a LC7i and a 5 channel pioneer amp behind the passenger seat. I also have alpine sps-517 5x7s in all four doors and rockford fosgate punch p1t-s tweeters in the pillars. the tweeters and factory channel are still ran on the factory sony amp and the rest of them are on the pioneer amp. All in, I have about 700 bucks invested.
