Question Subwoofers/ Underseat System

I am looking to install Subs/ amp into my 2013 FX4. Looking to get some advise/ ideas for the following aspect:
1. Underseat sub boxes (has anyone made a custom box and has pics or advice?) Ported vs sealed???
2. How can I use the stock stereo (8" touch screen w/ sync) are there outputs for another amp?
3. What size subs have you been able to fit? 8", 10"s, 12"s??

Any pics are much appreciated!!

Appearance packaged tricks come with them. I have My Ford Touch. I’m pretty sure it’s either an 8” or a 10” sub

Yes, I have that as-well on the passenger side with the Sony package. I am looking to put additional subs/amp on the other side of the long bench. Not exactly sure how to begin so looking for some people who have tried this kind of set up. Need more boom haha

Gotcha, maybe you can add a second factory one with brackets and a larger amp. I know some have replaced the factory Sony one with a different brand.

I’m happy with the factory Sony, my loud days are over and I’d prefer the storage space over the sound. I think there’s a box that fits behind the seats in the super cab. Try looking for one of those.

There was a guy in TN on Ebay (unfortunately it doesn't appear he does this anymore) and all he did was custom boxes for every crew cab truck out there. He built them to whatever specs you wanted and for whatever subs you were going to use. I went with the biggest and deepest 12" Fosgate sub I could fit. It is not a shallow sub in any sense of the word like most have to do under the seats. It also has an amp rack space that perfect fits the amp and LOC that I use for the signal. The seat still completely collapses flat and works as it should.

I will be changing things up shortly now that I have Forscan and can eliminate the Sony amp processing and can do it myself. I'll still use the same sub and amp but will be adding at least one more amp for the 6.5" JL components that I've been running off of the factory Sony amp. I'm sure it will be a nice difference

Purely a suggestion, but if you’re just looking for “a bit more” from that sub, try adding some poly fill to it. I have the same set up, added some polyfill to that sub box, and it made world of difference. Reduced rattle, and increased bass substantially. Very quick, easy, and cheap fix!

I also did the polyfill mod on the stock box. It does add a little deeper sound to the stock box. But it still wasn't enough bass for me so now I have 2 10 inch subs in a sealed box under the rear seats. Still kept the stock stereo I believe the shop used a line out converter to hook up the new subs and amp

Look up Fox Acoustics. They make a killer box for 2 10' subs. Once i have the cash i'll be upgrading my stock sony sub to this. Probably do 2 Alpine type R's and a JL 500/1 amp.

I've read that with the factory sony sub, the plug going into the sub can be spliced and used as RCA cables for a new amp. All you need to do is run power/ground, splice the plug to RCA for the amp and hook up your subs. Will be doing this to my truck in the future.

This is all you need - http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...SABEgJstfD_BwE - no messing with line output converters, no removing the head unit. Just a simple, sub and amp add on.
