Strange sound under acceleration.
Okay, so Im leaving work today and get on it a little, not a lot, and I hear this loud noise! (Comparable to a metal chair being pulled across the floor) so I immediately let off the gas! I slowly started accelerating then get into it again, and it happened again! So I drive slow for a couple seconds and it never happened again. Anyone experience this before? Note: my truck is a 2013 FX4 5.0.

My brother in law had something similar to what you describe happen. I rode with him and I heard it a few times. I couldnt pin point it. It lasted for about a week where he could push the throttle a certain amount going around 35-40 iirc. It was really awful sounding but only for a split second. We looked around pretty hard anywhere I could think of, I'm pretty mechanically incline as well. Nothing. Tested the 4wd and such but no difference. It went away a week later and never happened again according to him. His is a 14' FX4 Screw 5.0 with 6.5 bed

Sound anything like marbles in a tin can?
If so its probably pinging or pre-detonation. You may have gotten some bad fuel or are not running high enough octane for your tune if not stock.

Jeez. I'm going through the same thing right now man. My FX4 has been in the shop for 2 damn weeks. The service manager guessed it could be the transfer case. Hoping to hear something tomorrow. They replaced my transmission thinking that would solve the issue....nope
Check out a thread I started recently and listen to my video. Let me know if that's the noise and I'll let you know what my Ford dealership says once it's finally fixed.

Mine was making the same type of noise you describe, I found one of the heat shields on the down pipe had a cracked weld. The heat shield was where the pipe runs under the transmission from the left bank of cylinders to the wye on the right side. I put a stainless hose clamp around and it hasn't been an issue since.
