The only way I can see them getting this gromet on is to pull dash again. I bet you they try to spray some foam in there instead of a real gromet.

EDIT: And.... there's a missing dash mount bolt. The one at the TOP of the dash, directly under the windscreen, passenger side. No bolt. How do you have left over bolts when doing a dash job, and be OK with that?

1) Dash Rattle
2) No rubber gromet on the ac drain hose (can see right through the firewall)
3) Missing dash mount bolts
MEZERR - I might have missed it but did the rubber grommet fix your sound through the firewall? I had this done and have the sound just like you are describing. Truck is back in the shop, but they initially said they can't hear anything. It's plain as day to me. Did they have to pull the dash again?

Not to trivialize it in any way, especially since I have the barnyard smell too. Is there any chance of slicing one side of the grommet to slip over the drain pipe and push it back in place?

They said that the grommet is a split grommet. So, they said it would go back in, without pulling dash. When I got the truck back, the noise was gone, and when looking at the grommet, it looked installed exactly like a truck on the lot. They didn't pull the dash again.

So, yes, looks like it can slide right on without much work.

The needed grommet was still on the old evap core sitting in their shop.

You can stick you head under the dash, and see the grommet is missing. I could see right into the firewall.

MEZERR thanks for the quick reply. Here is what I've found so far. From the inside of the truck I'm not seeing the gap/opening to the firewall - unless I'm looking at the wrong place. From the firewall side though seems to be two things out of place -

What I believe it should look like-

What mine looks like -

It appears the grommet with the snap ring is not there around the evaporator drain and whatever the round plug does, it is not there either. The frustrating thing is, I picked the truck up from the initial service - heard the noise and took it right back. They had it all afternoon and then this morning, couldn't find anything wrong. I looked online for 10 minutes and then looked at my firewall for 5 and figured it out (hopefully). Claim they don't have the parts in stock and it will need to be shown to the "shop foreman" on Monday. This is all after they had the truck for 9 days + the last two days.

Yup. It looks like you are 100% missing the grommet on the drain tube. That's exactly what happened to me.

You can also see the missing grommet from the INSIDE of the cab. Look right where the passengers LEFT foot would be. Just to the LEFT of the bolt that's there. There should be a rubber grommet. You probably can see right through the firewall from the INSIDE.

Just show them that. They will fix it. The old grommet is probably sitting on the old EVAP.

How many of you with this smell issue park nose up on a somewhat steep driveway?

My driveway is level so no chance of pooling if that's what you're thinking in my case anyways.

Ok, it's just something the service manager mentioned. My driveway is quite steep.

My truck is getting the evap changed now.
