Strange smell

Where abouts are you? If there's only one report at each dealer I can't see it being widely spread amongst the service writers. I'm away for a week or so anyway. I might give them a call and see if they can look into a bit more so they can get it squared away when I get home so I don't have to inhale the chemicals with the A/C on this summer. Might send a PM Crystal or Bianca's way as well
He spun his screen around there wasn't a report on his his search query for this issue I mentioned that the copy of the report I had was from the US (I'm in Canada) and he said it doesn't matter they are linked. I've been on this site for a year and maybe it's not a new issue but it's a fairly new topic here I've not seen it pop up here before. I don't think every single report comes up on a search but the item has not been flag as a TSB or a concern on Ford's database until more people bring it in for this.
Mike I did see your report I mentioned there are many other repairs and reports for this issue. I had one report at the time that described the problem on the other fellows truck identical to mine yours says it smells like burning plastic mine is closer to smelling like a barn not so much plastic. Thank you anyways i figured the one report was good it was dated May 15 for a 13 truck so it was good enough for him to show interest.

LOL!!! - I will take my burnt plastic smell all day long over that "Black Ice" crap! Some sick b@$turd at work put FIVE of those damn black ice trees in one of the trucks in our fleet, which I have to drive at least twice a week! I removed them six months ago, and the truck still reeks of it!
Back on subject, I was recently at a dealer where a tech had the entire dash ripped out of someone's '13 F150, doing what I believe may have been this very repair, as he had the freon machine hooked up under the hood. Pretty scary scene! It scares the hell out of me that this may be what needs to happen to my truck, but I am damn sure going to pursue this while I am still under warranty. I shudder to think what this repair would cost out of pocket!

Constant since around end of march when the weather broke from a deep freeze this year. Driver side 2 vents only, with or without truck running with the fan on.

Update on my truck. My service adviser has told me to re-book it in they want it for a couple of days and provide me with a loaner car. Ford service manual recommended the "deodorizing" he said he wasn't convinced that was the solution just a bandaid. What gave me a confidence boost was he said another F150 came in for this today as well so he said he broke down and looked through this thread he's got Ford Engineering involved now. Mine goes back in for a couple days for the fix.
I will update again.

I just got mine back & had the "typical deodorize" done. They could not find anything causing it, though they DID experience this smell. They scoped it, checked for any leaks, etc. I understand that they have their hands tied to an extent & cant just start changing all kinds of parts. So it is frustrating that I know that this deodorized service will just "mask" the smell for a small time & I expect the "horse ****" smell WILL be back. My service advisor is good & can honestly say I have great experience from him, the techs that work on it & the actual dealership itself.
They CAN NOT just rely on these types of forums to direct them to fix an issue...they have to follow Ford's guidelines. My advisor did mention that the advisors & tech have their own Ford forums just for them & he will research more into this. So hopefully engineering indeed gets involved and a new TSB comes out to fix this issue once & for all.
One thing I really do wonder: Most have said the "manure/farm" smell, (which is what I also am experiencing)... BUT some are stating a plastic or vinyl type of smell. Just makes me wonder if we are experiencing the exact same problem? OR...are some of our "sniffers" off a little to describe the smell...OR is there more to this problem?
Hopefully we can all get this resolved & enjoy our trucks a little better, especially when we first start them!
The Ford CSM that contacted me, (after Crystal from FordService on here initiated a claim number for me), will be calling me back first of the week to see what my thoughts are after this service procedure that was just performed, and I will discuss with him a little more about this ...& my thoughts.
I'm glad to hear that SOME have had this resolved already.
Here is a few pics of my warranty service invoice & complaint for anyone that can use this info to show their dealer as well.

To be quite honest mine smelled a little more "plasticky" or band aid like but as time has passed it's definitely more like manure. My wife and kids definitely claim it's manure. I think it's all the same smell or problem just the power of suggestion as far as what to call it
