Default BEST way to tow from the rear?

What have you guys found as the best way to either tow or get towed from the back of the truck?

I have seen some guys go this way...



Others do this...

Bottom choice is best. Safest. As long as it is quality parts

Middle is good too if mounts are sturdy.

In a pinch (I wouldn't use it as my preferred method) you can also slide the looped end of the rope through the hitch pin.

D ring > hook > pin alone > ball mount (really shouldn't be considered)

I'd go with either the middle or last option. I want to install hooks like on the middle photo.

I've used the last option showed. I have a strap with a loop on both ends.

The first option would scare me if it popped off, the second option gives me nothing for a strap with loops on either end.

thinking about picking up the third option from Harbor Freight along with a recovery strap for snow just to keep in the truck - can't see me using it that often anyone have any thoughts on the Harbor freight one
