Quick test to see if it's an IWE issue. While the noise is happening during decal try shifting to 4 auto. If the sound goes away its the IWE (Integrated Wheel End). I'm currently in 4 Auto because I'm getting the sound for the second time. First one under warranty IWE replacement and this time at 110k.

the sound stops if its in 4 auto. Ive got 114k on mine. Ive had the noise for 50k miles. The cold weather seems to have made it worse. How much is the fix. Mine is at Ford today.

Default 2012 - Similar Issue

Hello, I have a 2012 Explorer with this exact sound/issue. I can hear and feel it when I take my foot off the gas and coast down. I do not have 4WD in the vehicle, applying the brake has no affect on it and i have even tried shifting in to neutral while coasting - also no affect. Any ideas? I just purchased this used with 66k miles, beginning to second guess the decision.

Chris
