Talking Straight pipes

I finally bit the bullet this weekend and went straight pipe on my 09' XLT 4.6l 3v. Wasn't sure just how good it was gonna sound but other than the obvious obnoxious growl it sounds really good.

Took my first real drive with it today coming back to Ottawa from long weekend in my home town and it wasn't nearly as bad on the highway as I thought it would be.

Has anybody noticed any pros and cons to going straight pipe?

I watched my fuel consumption closely and on the highway it seemed to be right on track to what it used to be and in the city maybe a little bit of a hit on the mpg. It's hard to truly say because I'm sure there's a +/- X% discrepency in the est. empty counter.

But other than that I'm pretty pleased with the results.... Still strongly considering dropping a few bucks on a glasspack to make the 5-0 happy.

What are your guys experiences with this?

I took the muffler off my 5.0 and replaced it with a 3" stainless pipe. I kept the resonator on though...which btw, is bigger than the Magnapack I was going to put on in place of everything. Sound is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Also not bad on the highway (took the truck 1000 miles roundtrip to Chicago and back). As far as economy...no difference either way. I'm getting 13.5 average every fill-up (its rated at 14 city). Not bad for hilly Pittsburgh city driving with my right foot.
