Well yesterday was quite the day! My brother had an oil changed scheduled for his raptor at our local ford dealership. I told him I'd give him a lift back home while his truck was getting serviced. Anyways, as were walking towards my ranger, I noticed a regular cab f150 on the lot with some big incentives and deals listed on the window sticker. Wasn't the exact truck I wanted but the deals were unreal. So I walked back into the dealer and had the salesman work out a price for a new f150 xlt 4x4 with the 5.0. Ended up being 10000 below msrp. Couldn't say no to that, so now I'm expecting my blue flame f150 reg cab short box in 8 weeks
Just thought id share my experience, it is my first brand new truck after all.

If that EcoBoost was $2,000 more than the 5.0, I would say go with the 5.0. For the price though, it is of my opinion (and my wife's too it seems) that the EcoBoost is the only way to go. Not only was the turbo response and power so much more enjoyable, but we took identical, low traffic, 65 MPH average 30 mile trips each way since the dealer was a bit of a ways away, and averaged 3mpg better with mixed highway/city driving on the Eco. We put some gas in it at the same station near the dealer in each truck to try and keep things even.
3mpg over the next few years can add up quick, especially if we see another up turn in fuel prices.
The 5.0 did have a damn nice sound to it. Only time I liked the Eco better in that way was when I had the driver window down and could, although lightly, hear the turbos spool up.
If it's possible, I definitely say get the V6 unless of course all you want more than anything from the truck is the V8 rumble, then the 5.0 is a damn good choice.
