Default Cree back up bulb comparisons

I recently replaced the back up bulbs, in my 2010 F-150, with Cree 5W bulbs and am pleased with the difference they make,,,However...I am now wondering if I should have gone with the 7W bulbs? If there is anyone that has tried both in the same vehicle I would like to hear your observations and if the increased cost would be worth the switch to the 7W. If the switch is justified I can always use the 5W bulbs in my wife's car. A friend is going to order him some but is kind of wanting an opinion as well.
Thanks for any input.

I'm with you. The 5w Cree LEDs are a nice improvement. I too wonder if the 7w version is much better. These things are bright but they concentrate the light into a beam. A flood version would be great or an LED that also sends light out the sides.

Note: I don't have the rear view camera that I am trying to properly illuminate.

if you dont want it projected, just knock out the glass projector in it. Also, the 7w is brighter, but not a huge difference. If you want better light output, put same bulbs in your cargo lights, and wire em to come on with the reverse. works great.

^..
You would need a flood pattern to make much of a difference in area coverage. The 7w will be brighter but will still be a focused beam.

Eric - Without the camera, do you think the Cree LEDs are an improvement over the factory bulbs as far as visibility goes when looking backwards?
