Default Steering Wheel Stereo Controls Whacky

I have a 2010 Lariat with the factory nav system and steering wheel controls. Over the past about 4 years or so I've had an intermittent problems, mostly with the volume button. Both the up and down volume buttons would result in the volume going up. This would only happen every few months or so, and never when I had it at the dealer. Recently it has gotten much worse, and the symptoms are inconsistent. The down volume control usually increases the volume, and the up volume control changes the station. And the station button changes the source (AM/FM/satellite/etc). It doesn't always do this, but is now an almost daily thing. Any ideas?

My steering wheel controls were acting funny and I took it in to the dealer (under warranty) They performed the sync update and so far it has fixed the problem

When did this update come out? I did an update about a year ago...it obviously didn't help, but maybe there is a later one???

Wow, that is a great tutorial video! But it sounds like it only applies to 2011 and newer, where the switches fail to control anything, rather than controlling different functions. Mine is a 2010 (but the switch cluster that he replaces looks identical to mine). Do you really think this could be the cause?

My 2011 does this. Sometimes the volume changes the station.

From almost everything have read, this solves the problem.

My '13 does the same as yours...mostly in arm weather... have the switch pack on the way and should be installing over Memorial day.

The switch pack was $17.75.
