are they going to replace the tie rods, or just tighten them up at where they bolt into the knuckle?

Hi everyone.

I'd like to try to assist with this steering wheel concern. The first step to get this addressed is to see your dealer for a diagnosis. If, for whatever reason, you still need assistance after that, please send me a PM with your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info. A brief description of the specific concern and what the dealer has done so far would also be helpful. I'll start working on these as quickly as you get them sent to me.

Holy cow!

First time I've ever seen a corporation sign in to a forum to help out.

Fantastic! Thanks Ashley.

TRIPPD, did you find out what they did with your tie rods?

I have been posting this forum topics link to Fords facebook site everyday, maybe that helped gain some visibility to the issue. I have seen how this PM business goes on Facebook though, I hope this yields a more customer service oriented outcome.

Does this offer extend to Canadians? My dealer admits the problem exists with my 2011 FX4, the mechanic and service manager both feel the knocking in my steering wheel, but Ford Canada has yet to approve the repair. It's been a month since I brought it in, I've called Ford's customer service number 3 times in the last 3 weeks and they keep promising to call me back within 48 hours but no one ever does. This is my 4th Ford and likely going to be my last due to the total absence of customer service I've received and what is nothing short of fraud by totally failing to honour the warranty.

Hi RChris.

I can help Canadians, too. Send a PM my way with your case number and/or VIN, and I'll take a look at what's going on.

Wow, I never thought I'd see the day!!!! Thanks Ashley, for your help. It has been especially cool this summer so my truck hasn't been acting up much yet. Will this be something that you will continue to warranty past 36k mi? I have had 3 racks, so this is a concern of mine. Otherwise I do plan to sell it as soon as my warranty is up. I look forward to your insights!

Don't got too excited, Ford contacted me today after going through Ashley and basically was told that since my dealer didn't feel the problem, they won't fix it. I referenced the 140+ pages on this site only to be told that they don't really care about non-Ford resources. I explained how unsatisfied with her response I was given I'm driving a $40,000+ piece of junk to which she had no reply. She told me to wait until it gets worse and then take it in. I explained I only had 3K miles left on my warranty so how long should I be expected to wait? No good answer for that either. I'm so irate right now words can't even explain it.

I got my new steering shaft to top off the new D series rack I received a week ago, the truck is now knocking worse than ever. It is doing it cold or hot now and I am sick about it. I am so tired of this. This truck has been a nightmare. I dont even know where to go from here. I am trying to pursue another rack but I honestly think something else is causing this. I dunno. If I wasnt in the middle of closing on a house, this thing would be halfway to craiglist right now.

I will never forget what FORD has put people thru on these rigs. This will be my last one ever.
