Those of you with "D" series racks, with your truck shut off, pop the hood, grab the steering shaft and turn it left and right real good. Does it make a knock sound? My D series rack is a week old and when I grab it with the truck turned off, it makes a loud knock within the EPAS unit when turning it left to right. I am wondering if that is normal when truck is shut off.
No just the EPAS. This has been driving me nuts for so long I am just glad to have the knock and rattle gone. I feel like I can finally enjoy my new truck. This is the second steering issue and bad brakes all fixed under warranty. My truck is two years old and been nothing but issues so far.

I just had my "C" rack replaced and got the "D" rack 7/9. well that rack was bad too and I still have the thunk in my steering wheel. I checked my lower shaft also like SOLAR07 ask us to do and mine has a chunk when I turn left to right. it is definitely there. I also took service manager for a ride, he drove and he couldn't feel anything he says. I drove the exact same road 5 minutes before him and it thunked the whole time. I don't think there will ever be a fix for this so all we can do is file complaints. I talked to another guy last night who has a 2012 and doesn't have any issues. I ask him squeaky rear slider?, he says nope, how about intercooler condensation?, he says nope, how about front diff pinion seal leak?, he says nope, how about bad steering rack?, he says nope, how about front suspension squeak?, he says nope, how about driveshaft yoke lube? he says nope! I said to him, well you must of gottin' one of the good ones, LUCKY YOU!!!

Corporate Ford/ The Dealership want me to have Les Schwab take my leveling kit off to see if it solves the problem.

Les Schwab is going to charge me 200 bucks roughly to take the leveling kit off and return back to stock. Do you guys think it is worth it? I know this is a tough question, but do you think the pop/knock will go away once I return it back to stock?

I am super frustrated with Ford because they are making me take the leveling kit off to determine if this is the issue but this is kind of where I am stuck right now.

Well took my truck in friday for this issue. Thought all was going well, the tech felt it clear as day on test drive. Even said it feels like marbles in the steering wheel. Service manager came out after about a half hour and said they cant do a warranty claim on it because there diagnostics came back as everything fine LOL and that the problem wasn't significant. They couldn't just throw parts at it. I was beyond pissed and tried to explain to them Ford knows of the problem and the new steering rack that was out would fix this issue. They didnt want any part of it and just gave me the runaround. ANYONE know of a dealer in Southeast PA that will fix this issue???

Default What is the difference between the racks?

I know that the AE racks is for the truck without towing and the BE is with towing, but what is different between the two racks? I have driven with the new DX rack for over a week in 80 plus temps and no knock. I am however having a high frequency buzz that I feel in the steering wheel when the truck is slightly accelerating. Has anyone else had this occur?
