I would advise that you take yours in and get the newest part installed. It may be the same but some of us have had luck thus far. This does not mean that it is a permanent fix though... Mine seemed fine for a few thousand miles last time. I would say part of the reason you aren't seeing as much activity is because temperatures have dropped and a lot of us have the problem worsen when it is hot out. Best of luck!

Not that I know of. It wasn't on the ticket.

I just took mine in for regular service and to have this looked at. Of course it has only been around 75 degrees so they couldn't duplicate the popping feel in the steering. It was terrible over the summer but has gone away with cool temps. I guess I'm just screwed till next summer unless they actually admit that the steering racks and shafts have a problem. It is frustrating to say the least. Everyone with this issue should file a complaint with NHTSA at this link:

It doesn't. I can't get into how I know on the forum, but it doesn't. The carfax provides title info, accident history, flood and fire damage, mileage reports and the vehicles status if it has been a commercial vehicle, a lemon or programmed. I do know that a steering defect that Ford doesn't know how to fix will hurt the resale value, especially if an accident or accidents ever get pinned on the steering components. The older Explorers suffered because no one took responsibility and fixed the problem--Ford blamed Firestone and Firestone blamed Ford. If there is a problem and it gets resolved all is well--unless they just cannot fix it. If they can't fix it the entire line suffers not just the ones with noticeable defects.

Default Having the same issue

I just recently purchased a supercrew FX4 Ecoboost and noticed the vibrating issue at around 800 miles. Build date on the truck is April 2012. So is the issue the steering rack? I went to the local dealers here (not where I purchased the truck from because I'm currently in SC for another week) and they told me it would go away around 3-4k miles. I think it's a load of bull. Any additional info that would help me out would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to take it into the dealer tomorrow. Thanks.

has anyone made any headway on this? Here is what I was told by my dealer a couple weeks ago, and haven't heard from them since.

"Ford technical hotline is very aware that there is a valid concern on the truck. We have verified it and know it is there, I am continuing to work with our FSE to try to resolve the issue and have even directed him to the forum links you sent me. This issue will not go unresolved, but it will take Ford and us some time to figure out the proper repair."
