Default LOUD, "2nd motor" noise under hood!

Hey boys, On my '12 ecoscrew Fx4 I got a loud noise under my hood, sounds like drivers side, and it sounds like a second motor and lasts only 10-15 seconds then stops. It happens when I start up the engine, when I back up and then when I drive for a bit. Once I've been running the engine for a while (15 mins or so) it stops completely. The weather here is -10 celcius. Any ideas? anyone had this problem? Maybe the fan?

Yeah I notice on mine that if the motor's slightly cold it has a slight...i dunno...ringing of sorts, like a lower pitched turbo whistle at a constant rate. Hard to explain. Probably normal, unless it's a bad grinding sound I don't worry about it lol

i know my dads 05 VW Passat had an air pump that was loud as all hell when it was cold outside...it was meant to balance out the rich condition when the engine is cold

Compressor for the brakes has been covered here extensively.
