Default Hauling Hay

Ok I always have the most random questions. Here's another one: Anybody here have the Screw with a 5.5ft bed, and if so do you haul a round bale of hay in it? I used to have the hay delivered but the guy died and his son doesn't offer delivery. The price is still the same but I have to haul it myself and I'm curious on securing it in this tiny little bed. Years ago I had a regular cab long bed and that was clearly not an issue but now I have the 5.5ft bed with a tool box😟 Sorry for the long wind, if you guys do it with this set up how do you do it with the tailgate down?

It is possible but not ideal. Look into a small utility trailer. Especially one with a dump body (manual, not hydraulic to keep cheap) to make unloading easy.

I'd say take the tool box out and stack them pumas high as you can!

I've got a 5x10 utility trailer but it's not very convenient to hook it up each time for hay but I guess it's better than the bale falling out of the truck and causing a wreck or worse. I was just curious. I know it will fit with the tailgate down but securing it is stumping me. It seems that it will have to be transported via trailer.

Depends on the size of the bale. A 4 x4 bale weighs in around 750 lbs. A 5x5 is around 1,000 lbs. 6x6 bales come in around a ton.

The small one, no problem.

The second one is at the limit. Don't drive any faster than you want to wreck, and go really slow sound corners.

The third one needs a trailer.

Yeah I only have two horses. With the amount if grass they have readily available a round bale last 2 months.
