Spring Detail - Collinite content
So, it was probably a little too early to do a full spring detail on my truck, but it was looking pretty sad with all of the winter grime on it, I have never touched the paint with anything other than pressurized water and soap since I bought the FX4 4 months ago. My truck has a little over 5,000 miles as of now. So even though I sprayed it off, there was still grime and residue left on my paint. Ick. Could you imagine if this truck was black? It'd look disgusting. At least white hides some of the grime.
With Southern Alberta finally receiving the spring we deserve, I decided that instead of just a quick hand wash, I'd just detail the entire thing, wax and all. So here goes. Materials used: Honda 5HP gas pressure washer - the real deal Meguiars Gold Class Car wash - My favourite soap 2 Buckets of water, one with warm water and a slop of Soap, the other with regular water Premium black Microfiber wash mitt 2 Waffle Weave microfiber drying towels Metro Air Force Master Blaster car dryer Invisible Glass with glass cloth Simple Green APC Meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel and Tire cleaner Chemical Guys Bare Bones undercarriage spray Meguiars Hot Shine tire spray Collinite 845 Insulator Wax Foam Applicator pad 2 Cookie Monster buffing towels Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner & Conditioner spray Softer microfiber towels for leather, super cheap Some cheap microfiber towels for the wheelwells and trim Steps: 1. Soaked wheels and brakes with the Hot Rims cleaner, soaked tires with Simple Green. 2. Sprayed all wheelwells, air dam and area with Simple Green and let it soak in for a bit. 3. Dug out pressure washer and began rinsing off the major dirt, began spraying out the wheelwells thoroughly. This step took a while, but it's SOOO worth it. Nothing worse than a clean truck and gross wheelwells. 4. Sprayed wheels and tires off 5. Filled 2 buckets, poured a satisfying amount of soap into one 6. Began washing truck using the 2 bucket method, not going to explain this one. Scrubbed wheels as well. 7. Rinsed off entire truck 8. Dried with Master Blaster, this little gem cut my drying time in half. Then I just wiped the little extra residue with a waffle weave towel. 9. Cleaned glass 10. Waxed with Collinite. 11. Sprayed leather cleaner & conditioner on leather, buffed off with soft towel. 12. Took pics, sat down, cracked open a nice cold soda. You just simply cannot beat the shine of Collinite. This is the best wax I have ever used. You know that day you pick up your truck and it's super clean, fresh and new, and even the paint smells new? Yeah, this feels like that day. My truck is cleaner right now than it has ever been, even more than when I picked it up. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3731/...c8b080b0_b.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3752/...2d76307b_b.jpg https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2842/...88a1c89f_b.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3697/...cf4c9fbd_b.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3677/...2e6e04ed_b.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7402/...b60a47bc_b.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5335/...a01940fe_b.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5511/...1938e0e3_b.jpg https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2892/...b07de672_b.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7154/...6252baf2_b.jpg Happy Saturday! |
Nice detailed write-up, your truck is looking great.
I cannot wait for the weather to start cooperating here in SK so I can dig out our pressure washer and stop spending $$ at the car wash... |
That's sharp!

Is that all you used in the wheel wells, Simple Green? And did you use it as a 50/50 dilution or full strength?
Your truck looks amazing. |
Looks awesome! What cleaner and conditioner did you use on the seats?

Your truck looks amazing. After I sprayed and soaked the wheelwells with the Simple Green, I rinsed it out and coated it with the Chemical Guys Bare Bones undercarriage spray. Appreciate it! |
Wow man, looks great!

I haven't been on in a long time. Congrats on the new 2013. It looks great with all your cleanup work. Those wheelwells look like showroom new. Collinite is amazing.

https://www.eshine.ca/chemical_guys_...r_16oz-830.php I've been doing regular 1-2 per month treatments on my seats since I bought the truck and they still look brand new after 5,000 miles, and I'm a heavy guy and slide across the bolster a lot. The CG stuff is pretty mild so I wouldn't expect it to take all of the oily sheen out of older leather, but it's excellent to use from the beginning when your leather is new to ensure that it stays looking like it does above. |
